Timely nutrition intervention is critical to fueling the wound healing process from the inside out. Nutritional care of the patient with wounds includes provision of the proper amounts of both the macro and micronutrients plus any applicable adjunctive therapy such as targeted amino acids. This session will review the science of nutrition with an emphasis on real world implementation.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the role malnutrition plays in chronic and non-healing wounds
  • Identify the key nutrients needed to fuel the wound healing process
  • Explain at least three new nutrition strategies
